Our semi-solid die casting process is already very mature. During the solidification process of liquid metal, the dendrite network skeleton easily formed by ordinary casting is broken and the dispersed particle structure is retained, so as to prepare semi-solid slurry. The slurry is then cast directly into billets or conventional molding techniques such as die casting, extrusion, etc. It can double the growth of the characteristics of the metal.
1. Preparation method of semi-solid slurry
There are many methods to prepare semi-solid slurry, in addition to mechanical stirring method, there are electromagnetic stirring method, electromagnetic pulse loading method, ultrasonic vibration stirring method, inclined rice method, forced flow of alloy liquid along the curved channel under external force, strain induced melting activation method, jet deposition method, control of alloy pouring temperature method. The mechanical stirring method is used to prepare semi-solid alloy, and the electromagnetic stirring method and the casting temperature control method are the methods with industrial application potential.
2. Other semi-solid molding processes
In addition to the use of die casting, extrusion methods for semi-homomorphic molding, there is also the use of plastic injection molding principles for semi-solid molding, known as rheological injection molding, thixotropic injection molding. Semi-solid injection molding is only suitable for low melting point such as magnesium alloy semi-circular casting.
